One of the original five lodging properties for Mad River Glen’s first season, the Hyde Away began life as a 19th-century farmstead, converted to the Ulla Lodge in 1948. Just around the corner from Sugarbush, it has run the way an inn should be ever since: a warm room, a nice table, good conversation, and historical charm.

The Fireplace Room has its own gas fireplace and a separate entrance. The Over Bar Suite is a retro ski dorm set right above the Tavern. The Hyde Away House sleeps six with a full kitchen of its own. Nine lodging options, nine different reasons to pick one over another, plus breakfast before you hit the lift or the trailhead.

New American cooking, an honest tavern.
Dinner seven nights a week. Great food prepared with fresh ingredients. Then there’s the Tavern: craft beer on tap, a bar that’s been the après-ski gathering spot for decades, and a floor with a lean that’s just part of the charm.

Our Story
One of five. Still standing.
Originally a farmstead dating to c. 1820, the property was a working farm through the 1940s, until Sewall Williams converted it into the Ulla Lodge in 1948, named for Ull, the Norse god of skiing. One of the original five lodging properties for Mad River Glen’s first season. Seventy-five years and a few names later, the Tavern still fills up the same way after last chair.
