The Hyde Away Inn in Vermont

Winter

Ski VT! The Mad River Valley is arguably the best place to ski in Vermont. Sugarbush was recently voted one of the Top 20 Eastern Resorts — #3 overall, #1 for terrain variety, and #2 for challenge of terrain by readers of Ski Magazine’s annual "Top 50 Resort Guide" for 2008-2009. In the same reader poll, Mad River Glen was voted #10 for best terrain variety in North America (not just the East).

Sugarbush Resort

The Inn is just minutes from some of best outdoor winter recreation around.

Sugarbush Resort

Sugarbush Resort

Sugarbush Ski Resort is located just up the road. Mt. Ellen is 1 mile, Lincoln peak is 3 miles — as you probably know you can jump right on the Slide Brook Express (look out for the ride!) to get between the two. With Sugarbush’s massive amount of snowmaking and variety of trails you’re sure to find terrain that’s ideal for you.

Mad River Glen

Mad River Glen Ski Area (we’re proud to be shareholders!), America’s only cooperatively owned major ski area is located just 3 miles up Route 17.

Mad River Glean Ski Area

Mad River Glean Ski Area

Mad River Glen’s hand cut trails preserve the quality ski experience of the early days of skiing in Vermont. Their Ski It If You Can bumper stickers are displayed with pride throughout the Valley and around the world. One bumper sticker even made it into space, aboard the shuttle with astronaut and MRG skier Cady Colem.

The unspoiled terrain and abundance of intermediate and expert terrain is unmatched. Try it and you’ll find out why there are so many loyal Mad River Glen skiers. And while you’re there, try out some of the best food to be found at any ski area. Mad River Glen is a VT ski resort in the historical sense.

Winter Nights

Winter Nights

After a day of skiing or other outdoor activities, you can continue to enjoy the outdoors. Find a hot tub somewhere, gather friends around a warm bonfire, look at the stars on a crisp cold night, or snowshoe under the full moon. Outdoors is fun even after the sun goes down.

Sledding

The Mad River Rocket sled is a Mad River Valley orginal, designed in Warren by local architect David Sellers and friends. The Rocket is opperated from a kneeling position. Because of its unique design, this sled carves turns.
